A Honus Wagner baseball card has made its way into my collection. It is no multi-million dollar T206, but it does not matter. It is everything I want in a card and I am so grateful to own this incredible piece of cardboard.
Look at Hans!
Wagner doesn’t have many playing days cards, and the ones he does have are not cheap. It is not lost on me how lucky I am to be able to purchase such an incredible card. This one stood out because it is a real image and shows him hitting. It is from the famous series of cards that includes the Babe Ruth rookie card! It also helps that there are fewer than 20 graded examples between PSA and SGC.
This card represents where I am in my collecting journey. I am now focused on higher quality and more scarce cards of Hall of Fame players. That means the number of cards I am currently targeting is very minimal.
The Wagner might set me back for a few months on bigger purchases, and that is okay. I am not going to sit on the sidelines though. I will still be attending shows like Chantilly, Philadelphia, and the National.
Here is me picking the card up from the FedEx store.
I appreciate everyone who talked to me during this process. I cataloged my thoughts openly leading up to the purchase in the only way I know howl, through some self-depreciating humor to show that I am a maniac.
And finally, 3 of the first 5 HOFers are together. Time to go get the two lefties!
